Gutailang Brand Story

Founded in 2009, Gutailang is located in Nanyang, Henan Province, the core mushroom production area in China. As an advocate of green organic mushrooms, Gutailang has a strict and professional production, processing and sales industry chain. Gutailang is a modern enterprise which focus on scientific research, planting, production, sales and export of mushroom products. The founder of the company, Wang Xuesong (Alan Wang), aims to develop the company into a powerful industrial chain supplier of organic mushrooms in China, and to make Gutailang a healthy and leading mushroom food brand in China.

Wang Xuesong, who just graduated from university in 1996, worked in the Planning Department of Want Want Group, where he was responsible for marketing the snack food products. The brand Gutailang is also inspired by this experience, and “green, organic, healthy” seems to sprout in his heart. In 2002, Wang Xuesong, who felt that his knowledge was insufficient, decided to study in Australia. In 2003, he obtained a master's degree in international business from the University of Wollongong in Australia. When many students chose to stay in Australia to apply for a green card, Wang Xuesong resolutely chose to return to China for development. In 2004, he was awarded the Guangzhou Government's Guangzhou City Scholarship Certificate.

In 2005, Wang Xuesong was hired by Guangdong Maydos Group to start the international business. After more than three years of unremitting efforts, the Group's annual export volume has grown from zero to about 10 million yuan, with an annual growth rate of more than 300%. The products are exported to more than 40 countries, the International Business Department has become the fastest-growing business unit of the group. At the same time, he has established a complete operating system for foreign trade operations. Mr. Wang accepted an exclusive interview with the group magazine “Maydos People” and became the cover character of the magazine that year. While, he always feel that something is missing. In the summer of 2009, when he accidentally went back to the mountains of Nanyang, Henan, where he was traveling, he saw the mushroom sheds in the mountains and plains. He was brightened by eyes. After a lot of data collection and field research, Wang Xuesong, who had been abroad for many years, discovered that after 30 years development, the cultivation and export volume of shiitake mushroom in Nanyang has ranked first in the country. The missing thing in the moment seems to be filled up. The little bud in his heart has grown into a towering tree. He felt that he had found what he want, "green, organic, healthy", plus mushrooms, is this not my own pursuit? So he resolutely left the Guangdong Maydos Group and gave up the high salary and welfare treatment, return to his hometown of Henan to create his own business. At that moment, he had no regrets, only dreams.

In the summer of 2009, Wang Xuesong founded the Xixia Veepro Mushroom Factory” in Xixia County, Nanyang City, which is the predecessor of Gutailang and registered as a member of Alibaba TrustPass. In 2012, the Tanghe County Government of Nanyang City implemented the talent revitalization strategy. Wang Xuesong felt the call of the land when he was a child. As a native of Tanghe, Wang Xuesong felt that he should support the development of his hometown, so he returned to Tang with his own dream of mushrooms. That year's hit TV series “Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf" was fairly popular, with the experience of Want Want Group in the early years, Wang Xuesong joked with a friend and said: "There was a Big Big Wolf in the past, there is a Gutailang today, the new company is called Gutailang. How about?” The friend praised this name, Gutailang is so established” and immediately applied for registration of the company and trademark. Wang Xuesong, who returned from studying abroad, has a commercial sense that transcending others. He took a bite on the big cake of e-commerce early, and he firmly believes that the future development trend is on e-commerce. He has expertise and advantages in e-commerce and foreign trade. In combination with the knowledge learned in foreign countries in the early years, Gutailang mushroom products were exported to the United States, Canada, Spain, Italy, Britain, France, Japan, South Korea and other countries through the Alibaba platform. In 2017, the company was awarded as the leading e-commerce enterprise of Nanyang.

Wang Xuesong is committed to the development of “green, organic and healthy” mushroom industry. He insists that everything starts from the source, helps growers to establish green organic bases, and strictly controls the planting, picking and production layers, which will be “green, organic and healthy”. The management concept has been carried through to the end, and now “Taro is a good supplier” for large enterprises such as Haidilao, Fujian Qinqin, CP Group, Wal-Mart and Jinmailang. In 2013, the company was approved as a VAT general taxpayer enterprise. In 2014, the company obtained the “Gutailang” trademark registration certificate. In 2016, the company obtained the food production license. In 2017, Gutailang successfully passed the ISO9001 quality management system certification and obtained the certificate of Organic Product of China. In 2007, Gutailang also obtained the export food production enterprise registration certificate issued by Henan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau and the China Electronic Port Card issued by Zhengzhou Customs. The company has been authorized import and export licence.
